The Wat Suan Dok is located along Suthep road outside the moats of Chiang Mai. It is also close to Chiang Mai University and its tree-lined and enjoyable campus. The Wat Suan Dok is a stunning temple with a splendid golden chedi. To go there, you can take a tuk-tuk or catch a songthaew driving to this direction. The legend says that from this temple a white elephant started it walk to the mountains, carrying on its back a Buddha relic. It made its way through the pathways of the Doi Suthep mountain, and at the place it died was built the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.
